Handyman Service Addresses: One Customer, Several Jobs
Keep a customer’s office and job sites separate. Use a three-address example, CRM checklist and confirmation message before the next visit.

Blake McAmisFor a handyman customer with several properties, keep the customer record and the work location separate. Save each service address, including its unit number, and confirm which location the next job concerns. Do not overwrite an accurate office address just because today's repair is somewhere else.
The useful question is: “Is this work at your office, the rental we visited last time, or another property?” A customer name alone is not enough to choose the destination.
One customer, three places
This fictional example follows one property manager. The addresses are illustrative, not real customer details; a live record also needs the correct city, state and ZIP code.
| Place | Address to distinguish | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Manager's office | 100 Example Lane | Customer contact address; no work planned there. |
| Rental, Unit 2 | 200 Example Court, Unit 2 | Today's sticking-door repair; confirm who will provide access. |
| Rental, Unit 3 | 200 Example Court, Unit 3 | Separate shelf request; no visit agreed yet. |
“Example Court rental” would be an ambiguous label here. Use the street and unit in the job reference, even when the same person arranges both jobs. Do not treat an address label as proof of who can authorize work or who should receive a bill.
Save service locations in ThePocketBoss
The web customer editor has Primary Address and Service locations sections, plus Add Another Address for more locations. CRM is available from Solo for one user. Team plans start at Essentials, and staff need permission to edit clients. Check the current plans when choosing access for your team.
- Open the correct existing customer's edit form. Check the name and primary address before changing anything.
- Enter the separate service address under Service locations. Include the unit or suite in the street field where needed.
- For another property, choose Add Another Address, enter the address and give that additional location a clear label, such as “Example Court — Unit 3.”
- Save and reopen the record. Check that the original primary address remains correct and that the service locations are distinct.
This stores addresses on the customer record. Separately check the address on each appointment, estimate or invoice you prepare; saving a service location is not confirmation that those records now point to it. The label does not schedule a visit, contact a tenant or establish access permission.
Confirm the location before heading out
Use a short message that names the property and the work. For the fictional Unit 2 job:
“Before I head out, please confirm the sticking-door repair is at 200 Example Court, Unit 2, and tell me who will provide access. I also have Unit 3 on file for the separate shelf request; no visit for that request is booked yet.”
Send that message through your agreed communication channel; saving the customer record does not send it. Once the location is confirmed, use the job access checklist for entry arrangements. If this is a new request, the customer intake checklist covers the remaining scope questions.
For your next multi-property customer, check one upcoming job against the full service address before you leave. See ThePocketBoss CRM for the wider customer-record workflow.
