How does call forwarding work?
PocketBoss provides a managed local number. You configure your carrier to forward the calls you choose, such as unanswered or after-hours calls, to that number. Forwarding behavior and any carrier fees depend on your existing phone provider.
Does the caller know it is AI?
Yes. The receptionist identifies itself as an AI receptionist. It cannot be configured to impersonate a human or hide that disclosure.
What does AI Receptionist cost?
The managed local number is $5 per month. Calls use prepaid AI credit purchased in whole-dollar amounts from $5 to $25, plus a reload fee shown before checkout. New accounts currently see a buffered talk-time estimate of about $0.14 per minute, but actual usage varies by call and provider costs.
What happens when AI credit is too low?
PocketBoss pauses AI call routing when there is not enough available credit and prompts the business to add credit. Routing can resume after a successful credit purchase. Server-side credit reservation provides an additional safeguard before a call proceeds.
Who can configure or view it?
AI Receptionist follows PocketBoss account roles and permissions. Business owners control setup and billing, and team members must be granted the applicable permission before they can access receptionist information or follow-up actions.
What caller information is collected?
The receptionist is designed to collect practical service intake such as the caller name, callback number, service request, address, urgency, and preferred scheduling time. Call data is processed by PocketBoss and its telephone, AI, and payment providers as needed to operate the service. Businesses remain responsible for lawful forwarding, consent, privacy, and recording practices.
Can it book an appointment automatically?
Not currently. It collects a preferred time for the business to confirm. The resulting follow-up can be reviewed in PocketBoss and connected to CRM, job, appointment, contacted, or archive actions.
Can I cancel and release the number?
Yes. Canceling stops future billing and call routing for the managed number and may permanently release that number. Previously purchased AI credit is generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly approved by PocketBoss. Disable forwarding with your carrier when you cancel.
